why did some books and publishers stop bringing out books with imaginative picture covers?

like the sleeve of the book ?

for example , horror fiction author bentley little used to have his books published by headline in the 90's era, and they would create fantastic covers for his novels like this :

but then for some reason , the company headline stopped publishing his books, i think approaching the 2000's era and Signet started publishing his books instead and started churning out non imaginative, basic covers like this :

i just want to know why this phenomenon is ? and why imaginative book covers seemed to have stopped , like what used to be published in the 80s, 90s, 70s and earlier ?

Is there a significant difference between Blu Ray and DVD?

Well, I have Red Cliff, on Blu Ray. The Picture quality and sound was mind blowing. I think epic military scenes belong on Blu Ray. So being very impressed with John Woo's Red Cliff, I decide to purchase 2 more Blu Ray films. I brought 300, and Taking Of Pelham 123 (Tony Scott). I was extremely disappointed and feel that I have wasted £25. I thought the difference was minimal between the DVD and Blu Ray. Maybe the Red Cliff film was just too good, and the other films could not lift a candle to the masterpiece. What are your thoughts? I think the Blu Ray films are very inconsistent in quality. Maybe I should stick to the cheaper DVDs.

Me and my girlfriend have been together for about 9 months now. She keeps getting hit on by other guys, many times. She saw her ex's a few days ago and gave them hugs. She is on this site called yearbook or something, and these guys flirt with her. She has even given some her phone number. She has even been talking to one of her ex's alot lately. And even had a picture of him and her as her profile pic on facebook from when they were dating lately. She told him hey sexy on his wall. I asked her about it and she got mad and said that, they are only friends, they joke around like that all the time, and why cant i trust her, and that im being insecure about our relationship. Some guy even sent her a flower in text symbols in a text message when she was with me and she got happy about it.I dont know what to do or say cause what I say might upset her even more. Please somebody, give me advise. What do I tell her. Is it wrong for me to want her to not being talking to other guys that are flirting with her or ex's?

Any tips. To me they look very similar. I know i have problems with APBT''s and SBT in pictures but my excuse for that is because i've never met a APBT in real life (they are banned here) but i've met many Shih Tzu's and Lhasa's yet struggle to tell them apart!

to say the most nasty vile thing they can think of, invent or dream up about you everytime they see you or know youre around.

It's impossible for them to not say anything horrid to you.

The things they say are things no one would ever say, unless they are super low in society. You couldnt even picture a classless homeless person saying it.

I think Michael and Diana Ross had a fling during the 70's. Possibly during "off the wall", because they hung out alot, during that time. And they seemed more closer than friends sometimes because they flirted. This has been bugging me for years, since I saw "ATL".

I know this isn't how Michael naturally looked but not all of his genetic features vanished after the surgeries because all Michael did was fix his nose and had vitiligo. And he wouldn't look only like Michael because he looks like his mother too.
